About Elkhart School of Music
Elkhart School of Music teaches students from ages 4 through adult. Whatever instrument you or your child wish to play, odds are we teach it: Piano, Guitar, Drums & Percussion, Ukulele, Voice (Singing), Orchestral Strings (Violin, Viola, Tin/Irish Whistle), Brasswinds (Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, & More), Woodwinds (Saxophone, Clarinet) all taught under one roof.
We are the only school in Michiana that offers all of these popular instruments year round in one location.
All ESOM teachers either hold college degrees in music (sometimes multiple music degrees), have years of professional performance experience, or both. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. We are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your music lesson.
We offer music lessons five days a week to accommodate your busy schedule.
12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday.
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays
Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it’s closed. Elkhart School of Music has a proven track record of offering quality music lessons in Michiana year round. Our full time mission is teaching music lessons trusted by over 6,000 families for over seventeen years.
We have a parent friendly waiting area with a coloring table/reading area for kids and fresh reading material and comfortable chairs for adults. Instead of waiting in a music retail store showroom, our clients enjoy free Wi-Fi, comfortable chairs, kids books, coloring books, and magazines. Parents are always welcome to sit in on their child’s lesson anytime they wish.
Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for music lessons, including amps, full drum kits, pianos and more. Piano, Voice, and Drum students need only bring their printed lesson materials to lessons. All others bring their instrument as well. One of the things that sets us apart is our focus on providing lessons that are fresh, new, and engaging.
Every parent wants to know how his child is doing. The best way for a parent to understand if his investment in lessons is really worth it is to have his child participate in a recital. At Elkhart School of Music, we hold recitals twice a year (June and December). In approximately one month's time, each performer receives a free DVD of the recital for their personal archives.
Our next recital is scheduled for: Saturday, June 29, 2024
This recital is open to the public. Admission is $8 per ticket or $10 at the door on recital day.
We are the only music school in Michiana that offers full time professional customer service for their students seven days a week. We have office team members who are available to assist our clients quickly and professionally even when the school is closed.
A competent, trained customer service representative answers phones from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00 to 9:00 on Sundays and holidays.
We stock all books and supplies that our teachers use in lessons for the students' convenience. We also carry a selection of new and used instruments. No need to travel miles or wait for an internet order. ESOM sells music books, instruments and accessories.
Due to its central location, our school is convenient to all areas of Michiana. Close to our school, you will find great shopping and dining. We have many students from Elkhart, Osceola, Mishawaka, Granger, Goshen, Bristol, Bremen, Nappanee, Cassopolis, Edwardsburg, and South Bend. Some even travel from as far away as Etna Green, New Carlisle, and Warsaw.
Pictures are taken of all recital participants before every recital by a professional photographer. This happens twice a year and adds to the excitement of recital performance. All pictures are displayed at the Elkhart School of Music on our “Wall of Superstars”.
A start up time of two full calendar months of lessons is required for registered students. It is NOT required that the initial two months be paid up front when the student starts. Neither are students required to start at the beginning of the month. Rather, payments are taken monthly and students may start at any time. Partial month starts will be prorated. Once a student has studied for the minimum two full calendar months, he will automatically transition to study on a month-to-month basis. For those who wish to "try out" a few lessons before committing to a devoted course of study, we've got you covered! For a slightly higher price, take as many or as few lessons as you like "a la carte". Scroll to the bottom of this page to see tuition costs.
We offer rental instruments to our enrolled (registered) students for at-home practice. Unlike our competitors, up to 100% of your rental fees are eligible to go toward the purchase of a new instrument. And you may purchase your instrument at any time during the rental period, even if it isn't full-sized.
It's never too soon to start,
never too late to learn!

Registered Students
Registered Students benefit by having a reserved lesson appointment with the same teacher each week. We will work with you to find the best time and day for your busy schedule. You will also receive a discounted price of $128 per calendar month, which yields an average of 4 private lessons. Lessons are one-half hour in length.
Non-Registered Students
Want to "try us out" before committing? Maybe you have an unpredictable schedule or only want a lesson every other week. No problem. You may purchase a one-time lesson as often as you like. The benefit here is that you are not "locked in" to a specific day and time each week and only pay for lessons as you are able to take them. For lessons done this way, tuition is $42 per lesson. Lessons are one-half hour in length.
Seniors (age 60+), Veterans, First Responders
Ask about our tuition discounts. We regret that this discount can only be applied to the actual senior, veteran, or first responder, not to family members.
Other Fees
Registered students pay a yearly registration fee of $30. Books, accessories, and other merchandise purchases are not included in tuition and must be purchased separately.
